It finally happened this weekend. We went thrifting and for the first time ever my youngest found a bunch of clothes that she liked. She has really started to come into her own style, so she knew exactly what she was looking for.

Which made it even more fun because she could look through the racks by herself and I could focus on looking for things for myself too.

We ended up with a literal cart full of items (mostly sweaters) that she loved, a beautiful black vintage long wool coat, and men’s brown leather oxfords.

Then a bunch of vintage cat figurines that she has declared is her newest collection.

This is probably the first time that my oldest didn’t really find many clothes. Just some frog print pyjamas because she loves frogs, a necklace, and some movies.

I found a few sweaters myself as well.

Before we went I told myself that I was only going to buy sweaters if they were a quality knit in great condition.

So I ended up with a grey wool turtleneck, red v-neck merino wool sweater, and a camel-coloured merino wool crew neck.

I had a 40% off coupon, as did the entire store, so it was pretty busy and picked over, but we did better than we have in a while.

It would have been nice to hit three or four stores, but honestly, I have to read my youngest’s cues, because she starts to run out of steam if we attempt more than two.

Which slowly makes it less enjoyable.

So we have to spread it out versus cramming it in one day which is fine. There were a lot of people shopping anyway which makes it less fun.

I think next time I may aim for a Tuesday or Wednesday run.

They restock early in the week, and it is much quieter and much more enjoyable without having to battle for room in the aisles.

Side note: It is hot today and is supposed to carry on through the week which is so weird for October. Walking around in 30°C weather with the leaves changing and falling off the trees feels strange.

I shouldn’t be sweating. It should be rainy and smell like fall.
