I woke up this morning to the news that Anne Rice passed away. This one was like a punch in the gut. I think I’m to crack open one of her books with a nice glass of wine and pay homage to the woman who introduced me to a whole new world of reading.

It’s definitely time for an Anne Rice reread.

I had an insane amount of blog traffic this weekend.

Like, yesterday was the largest day that I have ever had. It was crazy. Apparently, my How to Build a Winter Capsule Wardrobe on a Budget 2022 from this week took off somewhere. It’s going to suck when it dies down again.

Google search was also my friend this week which is awesome because Google can be so finicky with all of its updates. One day you rank, then next you don’t so it was nice to see that maybe the SEO I have been trying to implement is paying off.

Either that or it was a fluke like the other traffic.

I’m thinking of virtually attending Treasures from The Museum of Witchcraft & Magic with Simon Costin tomorrow. It is an online event and sounds like it would be a fun afternoon thing to do with my youngest.

Who knows, even my teen may enjoy it since she finds witches interesting.

I’m still waiting for one of Merle’s birthday present to arrive. It says tomorrow by 10 pm but I won’t hold my breath on that. Thankfully the main part arrived already.

I am almost done Christmas shopping which feels good. I haven’t don’t the stocking stuffers done yet but that is an easy store trip that I will make sure to do on an early weekday morning to avoid the hell that is my mall at this time of year.

We had a huge windstorm yesterday, and the temperature was almost 20°C in the middle of Decemeber which is insane. It’s the warmest December date in documented weather history here since the 1870s.

If it wasn’t so windy I would have gone for a long walk but the wind was intense and there were things blowing off buildings/construction sites. All I need is a piece of scaffolding in the head.

I also felt like I was going to faint for a chunk of yesterday afternoon. I think it was because I drank too much coffee though. That or either anxiety. I always have that fast heart, anxious feeling. I hate it.

Anyway. Back to another week. I hope yours is great…well, as great as can be at the moment.

Stay safe.

  1. I was 12 when the film adaptation of Interview With the Vampire came out, I had four friends who were spending the night and we were supposed to see the movie the next day. But then two of them weren’t allowed to see it because it was rated R ( we wound up seeing some terrible Arnold Schwarzenegger family comedy instead 0 either the one where he was pregnant or the one where Danny DeVito was his twin). Since we wound up missing it in the theater my parents bought me the book. I’ve still got that beaten up copy somewhere.

We eventually wound up renting the VHS and watching it during an ice storm. We lived in north Louisiana at the time, which made Anne Rice feel a bit more special for us, even though we were about as far from New Orleans as you could get and still be in the same state.

    • I’m a huge believer of reading a book before watching the movie so it was probably best you got the book first. The book is always better 99% of the time, except for Wizard of Oz…I didn’t like that one but I love the movie. I remember stealing interview from my brother because he was 6 years older. I don’t remember how old I was when I watched the movie though. It’s always so sad when an author that you love dies, and you realize that you will never read anything new by them again.
