The weather is starting to cool nicely and it is exciting, although I am not looking forward to wearing winter boots. It did snow in Winnipeg where my aunt lives so I am just going to sit back and enjoy my perfect autumn weather.

I finally got to wear that striped turtleneck that I bought back in June. It’s been sitting in my closet teasing me. Now I want to go back and buy more of them because it fits well, is great quality and they had a million colours. I think that a camel one would be nice.

Alexa managed to ruin a Christmas present for Merle. Or more like she ruined it for herself with the help of Alexa. When Alexa flashes green it means she has a notification. This is how it went:

Merle: Alexa, do you have any new notifications?
Alexa: The Amazon package “cat clock” was delivered today.
Merle: Cat Clock!?
Me: Fuck.

So consider yourself warned. I heard that she stops doing that in December but that doesn’t help those of us that start shopping early.

It is Thanksgiving weekend here in Canada and I do not have a single thing planned for dinner.

I’m not sure what I am going to do about that. I really, really hate cooking turkeys so I want to think of an alternative. The kids don’t seem to like turkey anyway, and to get Merle to eat it we have to call it a really big chicken :/

If anyone has some good turkey alternatives I would love to hear about them.

Weekly Reads (and maybe videos):

A Timeline of the Earth’s Average Temperature. It’s important to note the bottom fo the chart. Terrifying.

Women of Rock. Oral History Project. I’m going to have to sit and watch all these interviews.

This is beautiful. I didn’t realize they could change so many colours.

Do you need some ideas

The Invisible Jumper Project.

Star Wars x Le Creuset Collection. If they weren’t so expensive I’m sure Tom would preorder these.

Cat in a funny box.

Banksy’s pop-up shop that you can’t actually go in to

Talking Heads Songs Reimagined as Pulp Fiction Novels.

Real Ghostbusters Stop Motion Intro. So much fun.

  1. I do love turkey, but chicken or ham are perfectly fine alternatives! One of my favorite Christmases as an adult was with a group of friends and we had Cornish game hens.

The her-story of rock sounds awesome. When I was in high school in the late 90s VH1 had a week long countdown of the 100 greatest women in rock and popular music. Then after the countdown they would play a couple of hours of music videos from female artists, and not all of them were on the list. There were quite a few albums I bought because of that week of programming – L7, Liz Phair, Babes in Toyland, a lot of Kim Deal. I wonder if that countdown is on youtube…

    • I absolutely LOVE all of those female singers/band you listed. I haven’t listened to Liz Phair in ages. I think I need to make a women alt rock playlist on Spotify.

I ended up making pork tenderloin tonight. It’s super easy and small enough that we didn’t have much leftovers which is perfect.

I kind of want to find that countdown on Youtube too. Let me know if you find it.
