I’ve got a friend that is celebrating her 10th wedding anniversary this summer by going to Bruges, Belgium. They are returning to the scene of the crime…..

In other words, going back to the city where they met 16 years previously.

I have to be honest, I wish I met my husband in a beautiful European city.

If we were to go back where we met it would be to a bar that no longer exists :/ I have a feeling that my story is more common than theirs though.

This week is about what to pack for Belgium.

While July and August are the hottest months of their year, it typically only get as high as the low 20’s, with many days even less than that so bring items that later well.

My friend recently bought the yellow skirt that I included and wanted to make sure that I put it along with the swimsuit, (even though she may never get a chance to wear the swimsuit).

I actually have the same suit in black and it is so flattering. You definitely need to size up in it, and you can that all the reviews state the same thing.

Because of its location, Belgium gets a lot of cultural influence clothing with both Germany and France being its direct neighbours.

This means that you can pretty much dress however you want and still blend in.

Although you should keep it to a certain level of conservatism while visiting museums and churches.

Nice blouses with jeans or summer dresses with a light sweater or jacket (to cover the shoulders if necessary) are perfect choices.

Since it is the nicest time of year, this means that it will also be the busiest, so keep this in mind when planning your itinerary.

The travel footwear choices are debatable. I like to stick to the “three pairs only” rule so you need to figure out what type of footwear will work best for you in this climate.

A comfortable sneaker is the best choice (for me), then maybe a sandal, and either some flats, or a bootie depending on what the weather is predicted to be.

Keep the heels at home though, as the streets aren’t heel friendly to include those in your Belgium travel capsule wardrobe.

And right about now I could go for some Belgian frites with mayonnaise, and a nice cold beer to wash it down.

This packing list is for 12 days in Belgium in summer. All of the visuals in this post are meant as a guideline to aid you in creating your own Belgium Packing List based on your own clothing, colour preferences, and personal style.

  1. If I went back to where I met my husband, it’d be a tiny one-stoplight town in northwest Alabama. (We met at a wedding.)
