SHOP THE POST

I bought a freestanding closet from Ikea on Saturday. The idea is to take the clothes I wear out of the closet (except heavy coats) and put everything on that rack, not including the items that I have folded on the bookshelf beside it.

Then the closet can be used for excess storage and things that I will be selling on Poshmark which are currently folded in bins in the living room.

My bedroom is about 9×11 ft. Maybe even smaller, or at least seems smaller because it is oddly shaped (we are in a corner unit) and not easy to put furniture in any organized manner.

So the rack is located right beside my bed. I can literally sit in my bed and go through the clothes. But you do what you have to do when you live in a small space. Every time I see bloggers on Instagram sitting in their massive closets to do try-ons I always laugh because their closets are usually pretty damn close the size of my whole condo in many instances.

I can’t imagine having enough clothes to take up that much space. I don’t even think I would want to because I have enough trouble deciding what to wear as it is. But I guess when you own that many clothes you can just wear something new every day, so dressing would be easy.

As I was transferring stuff over to the new stand it allowed me to go through and set aside stuff that I no longer wear. It actually ended up being A LOT of stuff. Some things I had forgotten that I even owned.

Funny story: We went to Ikea on Saturday which is a horrendous day to go but I wanted to get the shelf built this weekend. I also wanted to pick up a new set of curtains, and a curtain rod. So our Ikea list had three items on it.

After we paid for them we went into the food section because I wanted to pick up frozen meatballs and gravy. Then we got sidetracked with the pear flavoured carbonated drinks, and the candy, and ended up accidentally leaving the curtain rod beside the candy counter.

Luckily it was only $6, but this meant that we had to go back today to pick up another one.

Ikea twice in one weekend is like a little version of hell.
