Tom asked me what I want for my birthday, and I’m drawing a blank. We don’t spend tons of money on each other for things like birthdays, usually around $100 or maybe $150 if it’s something that we really want. I have a few things in my virtual baskets that I haven’t bought yet that I could add to my birthday wish list, like this t-shirt, the Everlane dress that I mentioned last week, and this tee. I’m pretty easy-going though and would also love a Zara gift card or and upgrade to my phone (it’s due for one so I have some pretty good deals in my account I just haven’t got around to it yet). Any good ideas?

Hallelujah the heat finally broke. The fact that we had a heat wave that intense at the very start of summer has me cringing at the thought of what late July and August is going to bring us. The girls and I were Googling what cities we want to move to that are much more temperate and rainy than here. We narrowed it down to Edinburgh because Roo claims that the old part of the city reminds her of Harry Potter. Apparently that is a selling feature 😉 If only it were that easy to just pick up and move to another country (well, at least for us regular people).

My birthday is sneaking up quickly and I am still trying to figure out how I feel about being this close to 40. It feels like 20 was just yesterday. Is 40 the new 20?

If you follow any blogs at all you’ll see that many of them are starting to post about the upcoming Nordstrom Anniversary Sale. It’s going to get obnoxious until it finishes on August 5th so consider yourself warned 😉 They released a sneak peak catalogue of some of the things that will be included in the sale and I have seen a lot of people complaining that they didn’t like the picks this year. I’m not going to lie, I do like a lot of it. Many pieces are different from their normal cookie cutter styles they put out so it’s nice to see some colour, patterns, and bolder styles. I don’t have a Nordstrom card so I won’t be able to jump on the early access train on July 12th. I’ll have to wait until it opens to the general public on July 20th like 90% of the rest of you who are planning on making some purchases. It’s the perfect time to find some fall deals for yourself or do some of the kids back to school shopping to avoid the crowds later.

I ‘m watching Pride and Prejudice Zombies as I am writing this. I don’t know why I never watched it sooner because I like it! I sometimes get pissed when they remake a classic, so I tend to avoid them out of spite. I am rapidly running out of things to watch though, so I thought I would give it a shot.

The line-up at Zara today was an hour long wait for me to return the jacket and jeans that I bought from the sale. The jacket didn’t have a lining and I intended it for a fall jacket. You need a lining in your jacket here in the fall so it was just a waste of money. I ended up ordering this blazer instead for the same price. I have had this in my shopping basket for around 7 months, and when they further reduced it at the sale I grabbed it. I also exchanged the jeans for the same cut but in the lighter wash, I like the look better.

I read that thousands of people showed up at Stonehenge for the summer solstice yesterday. I am officially adding that to my bucket list. It seems to be growing way faster than it is getting crossed off, I hope I can change that this year.

I worked out 4 time this week, and on the day I didn’t exercise we managed to all 10,000 steps (and discovered a new park) so high-five for me 😉 In reality this should have been a habit for me for at least the last 10 years. I remember after Roo was born I was determined to get on a work out regime and got suckered in to buying several Beach Body infomercial workouts. It was the mid 2000s so online workout videos weren’t really a thing. It was either the gym or DVD’s. Since I abhor the gym, DVD’s it was. I think my first two were Windsor Pilates, and Yoga Booty Ballet. I saw zero results from either but I guarantee if I would have got myself in to a better routine and exercise habit 13 years ago, then I wouldn’t be having this much difficulty today.

June is Pride month and a lot of retailers are putting out clothing. I included a few of them above just in case you are looking for something to wear to show your support.
