This is part of the extensive gardens that surround our condo. Now that the snow has melted and spring is in the air everything is starting to reveal itself. These plants are usually vibrant green with little white clusters of flowers all over it. It is actually quite lovely, but I also find this lovely because it is the moment before it transitions. I was trying to pan out to get a larger shot but as I did you noticed something else all the melting snow reveals……all the dog shit people don’t pick up that the snow keeps covered until spring. I panned out and immediately was “pan in…pan in!” Nobody needs to see that 😉 Continue Reading →
*The large purse in this list sold out quickly so I have replaced the link with a similar bag in the same price range.
I had a challenge this week. Several weeks back I had a request to help with a week-long packing list for New Orléans in April. The catch is that she has a sun sensitivity so she needs coverage while still remaining cool in the humidity.
My oldest daughter has a slight sun sensitivity. While we don’t have to keep her covered we do have to show caution because turns red quickly and is prone to getting overheated and will throw-up (fun). So for this list I tried to stick to fabrics that breathe like cotton, and linen.
The linen pants and maxi skirt/dress are light and airy, a straw hat with a wider brim, and a cotton scarf that can also be used to cover the arms. Both the chambray and kimono are easily layered over to keep the shoulders and arms covered.
A pair of black pants are good for a quick dress up if needed, and for the shoes I stuck with some sneakers, a pair of mules that cut up high enough that the top of the foot isn’t exposed, and the booties have perforations to allow air through.
I planned about 10+ days worth of clothes but you could easily take out some pieces to cut it down. The outfit options for this list will be in the next post.
Do you have any other fashion suggestions for a traveller who needs to keep covered from the sun?
It’s funny how time flies by and you think “where the hell did it go? and why the hell does it seem like I have accomplished nothing during that time?” It kind of saddens me. Not that I want my life filled with non stop projects and accomplishments but sometimes I feel like I need to really buckle down and do something. My days are filled with kids, homeschooling kids, errands, housework, and then whatever time I can squeeze on here throughout the day. I just feel like there is never enough time to do things, and I keep saying, “tomorrow, I will do it tomorrow.” (that refers mostly to exercise which I always seem to notoriously have no time for.) My house is still a mess, there is always laundry to be done, and my kids eat the most basic meals ever. I need a planner, someone or something than can organize my life into manageable increments to get things done because most days I feel so scatter-brained. Continue Reading →
