I am trying to be better with not having the heat cranked, but it has been so cold lately, and our living room has a wall of windows, plus a balcony, so the heat kind of gets sucked right out.
But I turned it down and use a blanket when I am sitting at my desk recently, and it’s not too bad.
And I am one of those people who always wear socks at home and in bed, no matter the season, so slippers are also a must.
I am the only one that wear slippers, though, and I don’t understand how their feet don’t freeze since we don’t have carpeting. Apparently, they all like to live on the wild side.
We finally got my youngest’s room moved around after literal months of trying to get our shit together, and the new setup is so much more space-efficient.
There was a moment mid-move when I was second-guessing my idea but I should have known better.
I used to make to-scale floor plans of my bedroom when I was quite young because I loved moving my room around by myself and wanted to know my options, so I had faith in my vision.
We were going to get her a new desk, but hers is an old one from the 50s and is pretty substantial wood, with a lot of drawer space, so she wanted to keep it after looking at some.
To give a little bit of extra storage, though, I ended up just getting her this shelf to go on top, which fits perfectly and is very useful.
I dialed down the purchases over the holiday season, and it is carrying through, except for one item this past week.
A vintage tuxedo jacket with tails has been a wish list item for my secondhand searches but they tend to skew pricey, so I have been patient.
This week I saw one on Poshmark, and it was way less expensive than I usually see them, and then she offered me 40% off, which was insane to me, but I wasn’t going to let it pass by since it was the size I needed.
It arrived today, and it is perfect. Like literally, it fits perfectly. I am so excited to style it.
In case you missed it, I posted my first spring wardrobe for the season yesterday, which was the anti-capsule.

That link to the Roman roads is really interesting. I live near a city in the UK that was founded by the Romans, it was originally a fortress. There is still a section of the fortress wall right outside of the old Topshop.
That’s so fascinating to me. While I love my country, as a history lover it makes me sad that isn’t something that I can ever experience here. I’d love to live somewhere with a deeply ingrained history like that.
