The Sunday before Christmas was not the best time to go to the mall, but I thought, “I’m going to be quick. It won’t be bad.”
But I was lying to myself.
I was going to the post office because it is the closest one and open longer on Sundays, and I thought it would be a quick in-and-out.
It was chaos, and I regret my decision. I’ll probably get sick from how many people I was pressed against at various points.
Not cool Sara, I should have walked farther to the other location. But at least my Poshmark packages that sold over the weekend are now in the mail system.
Honestly, by the crowds today, it showed me how many people actually wait until the last minute to shop, and it blows my mind.
Not only because it would be so expensive to do that all at once, but also really stressful. So kudos to you who like to live on the edge like that. I could not pull that off at all.
I bought absolutely nothing for myself this past week, which I am proud of because I am trying to rein it in. But honestly, it is more because I am broke than because of restraint.
But, all the big sales will be coming immediately after Christmas, so if there’s something for your winter wardrobe that you have been holding off on, this might be your chance to get it at a cheaper price, since winter is just starting.
There once was a time that I shopped in person on Boxing Day. Not only that, but I actually looked forward to it. That will probably never happen again.
I’d rather stay home in my pyjamas.
I am not looking forward to the switch to spring merchandise, though. When I was out walking today, it was sunny and cold, but a nice cold, and it reinforced how much I hate hot weather.
And I could easily live with this all year long.
Did I mention that I saw a crow the other day? Crows/Ravens are up in my top favourite animals.
I heard the distinctive caw while I was doing errands, and I immediately stopped, whipping my head around to look for it, then it swooped by overhead.
I was really hoping it would land nearby so I could offer it a shiny gift and try to make friends, but it was busy.
Anyway, it made my day. That and the dog Chico, who was ahead of me in line at a store. He was getting a new hat.
