I had to include the Halloween look this week because it is one of the most fun days of the year, even though my kids have now aged out of trick-or-treating.
Sundays seem to be a post office drop-off day for me for the things that sell on Poshmark over the weekend, so I did some browsing in stores along the way.
Is it just me, or are many stores not making an effort to remove wrinkles from items before displaying them on the floor?
They look like they are straight from the bag/box to the hanger.
I know some stores like Zara and H&M have a really quick turnover rate, so stock is constantly being moved and replenished but even they look more polished than today in Banana Republic.
It is a much quieter store that usually focuses on styling their product appealingly on the racks, shelves, and tables, so you think a bit of extra care to detail would be normal.
There was a cotton button-up that I have been wanting to try on, and today it was in the store (finally), but it was in dire need of a steam.
Seeing it in that condition actually turned me off, and made me not want to try it on. The rest of the store looked great, but many of the cotton dress shirts looked a mess.
Not a good way to make people want to buy it, because I would like to know what it looks like wrinkle-free before I spend that much on a shirt.
Anyway, as someone who worked many years in retail, I have done my fair share of steaming, and earned many steaming-related injuries.
Those shirts would have been a big no-no for me. I will probably go back to try it on later because the Holiday Event for 40% is coming up, and I have wanted this shirt for a while.
I just wanted to know what size to get, and I was too annoyed to try it on today. Having a headache for the past 24 hours probably didn’t help, even though there was an extra hour sleep in there last night.
I also wanted to point out that the bib scarf I am wearing in outfit four is from By Malene Birger, which I bought a couple of years ago.
It comes in a handful of colours now, compared to just two before (I like the navy), but it is expensive and Zara has an iteration that is very, very close visually that I would have bought instead if it was available at that time.
The only difference is the fringe along the neck and the percentage of wool content.
Anyway, that is it. Poshmark is hopping tonight, and I have to go answer a bunch of questions people have.
Do you know what would be amazing? If Poshamark Canada and Poshmark US connected together.
I think I would try to make it my full-time business since my heart is in the secondhand retail market.
Have a good one.
