Weekly Secondhand Finds XXXII

a collage of different types of women's clothing and accessories. All vintage or secondhand.

On the eve of this Amazon Prime Day, I can now say that I bought nothing from the sale. I didn’t even open the app today.

If there wasn’t anything in my basket or that I needed before, then it was probably safe to say that there wasn’t anything I needed at all.

These sales can be sneaky, and it has been proven that they often inflate the prices of sale items in the weeks leading up to the sale to make it seem like a bigger discount.

I am not playing that game, so I secondhand-shopped instead. This resulted in me getting a vintage lightweight jacket that I have been debating over because I am not certain of the fit.

So I will share it if it works out. If not, maybe I will sell it on Instagram because it is a pretty cool style.

I also found myself looking at the Zara sale which is always so tempting. There was a cobalt blue sweater on there that was still in stock, and I was debating it. Hard.

But then I decided I would look to see what I could find secondhand.

And lo and behold I came across a lightweight cotton Ralph Lauren sweater in a similar colour that looks a lot like the one I included below.

It was pretty much the same price as the Zara sweater so it was a no-brainer for me.

I think these intense shades of blue are going to be prominent over the next year. We saw these blues in similar hues all over the newest Celine show (which I am obsessed with).

I would love to be a Celine girl, but I am too broke ass for that, unfortunately. I do have a secondhand Celine bag though that features that deep blue.

Also, a prediction based on that show: the Phantom bag will become a highly sought-after bag on the secondhand market, leading to dramatic price increases.

So, if you like a blast of intense blue, which I think we will see paired with a lot of camel and browns, this sweater and Issey Miyake Bao Bao bag are a great place to start.

The blouse on the left is silk and what I love about it is that it isn’t a regular button-up blouse. It looks like a blazer or jacket which elevates everything.

It would look great with some faded, distressed denim and ballet flats.

Sonia Rykiel is a designer that I have mentioned a lot and own pieces from. Her vintage stuff is amazing and this black jacket is a good example.

Check out the tiny star print.

These are like the perfect vintage trousers.

Silk, and a slightly relaxed fit. They are pinned on the mannequin to make them fit so don’t use this photo as a fit guide.

I am always in the market for a vintage army jacket, and I love the look of this one with the epaulettes and big cargo pockets.

Another Sonia Rykiel piece is this fabulous polka dot blouse. It is like the perfect summer shirt, and has so much personality.

A vintage bomber jacket in rich cognac leather. I love the contrast of the colour that the knit collar, bottom, and cuffs give.

I am a big vintage jewellery person and this delicate fan pendant is so pretty.

Then we go the other way in an almost over-the-top costume jewellery necklace and I adore a piece like this.

It makes such a statement and my favourite is to pair it with something way casual or masculine.

Two jackets, each perfect for different reasons.

The first is by Anna Sui and has a delicate floral pattern. The cut gives me 18th century vibes.

The other is a very vintage leather jacket that has a strong cinched, hourglass shape thanks to the lacing in the back.

Miu Miu shoes are a weakness of mine.

Remember above when I said that I think we are going to see camel and blue parings? These lace-up wedges are the perfect example of how well that colour combination works.

Also, python print derby shoes? These are fantastic.

And because I loved the Celine show so much I found a couple of awesome bags.

I enjoy a blast of yellow, so this lemon, khaki, and black shoulder bag is a statement.

While this neutral sherpa is less statement, but brings a lot of texture, and it is perfect for fall and winter.

That is the roundup of the week, and my hope is that before you feel fomo and run to buy something new or trendy being shared, that you take a step back and maybe try shopping secondhand first.

I know that secondhand are usually one-ofs, so if you miss out or something is not your size, at least you have the tools to help you try to source another one that will work for you.

All you need is some patience.
