On Wednesday night, around 11, our home wifi started being sketchy. It does this often, but then it will correct itself and be okay until it goes off again.

But this time it went out completely, and the modem kept flashing the “can’t reach signal” light.

So I used my phone to search for whether there were any known issues going on, and it seemed like others in the area were also experiencing downtime, so I figured it would once again kick back in once they resolved it.

I went to bed and woke 6 am-ish to see that it was still down, and I checked online again to see if there were any known issues, and there wasn’t any showing.

That prompted me to jump on the chat where the guy said that the system rebooted at the initial time of my issues, but it appears everyone else’s modem went back online except mine, which apparently has a “weak” signal.

He recommended that I get a technician to test why it is weak, and since it was now Thursday before a long weekend, I said okay because I didn’t want to have to go several days without internet access.

They said they had an opening from the hours of 12-4 and the person will be there at some point between the hours, so I booked it.

Then, of course, at 11:30 am, it kicks back in and is working fine, and now I am convinced they were gaslighting me.

Several years ago, they had a nationwide outage that they didn’t admit until we were hours into it. It is ridiculous.

They are notorious for never admitting there is an issue when there obviously is, so I debated cancelling because everything was working well again, but also it was going to cost me a $75 cancellation fee because it was less than 24 hours notice.

Which is stupid because how does one give notice when the appointment is booked for the same day?

I think that they should have one free cancellation per year.

That is the least they can do after forcing us to pay exorbitant prices due to the cell and internet companies being owned by an oligopoly.

It’s bullshit and they need to open up competition here like they do in every other single country.

Anyway, that is my bitchfest, and is my long-winded way to say that I now owe them $75 for nothing.

In case you missed it, I put together a Y2K-inspired summer capsule yesterday. My first summer one of the season.

I am actually contemplating the camisole I included in the capsule because it reminds me so much of one that I used to own and love, although I do also love it in green.

Washable silk is a dream, especially for summer.

Also, I watched the tv series Ludwig and it was great. I am drawn to quirky characters, and happy to see they are getting a second season.
