This week I wanted to see if I could find some things that would work for the upcoming spring and summer trends, or even current trends that have longevity and aren’t going anywhere anytime soon.
I always love a challenge to see if I can do this because most people are in the mindset that to be trendy or participate in current trends, you have to buy new.
Nope.
So let’s get started with some shoes that got me excited.
The Puma Speedcats were reissued this year and they are making rounds in the trend circles. I found a couple of Speedcats that were OGs from the Y2K era.
The first pair I would have snatched up if they were my size because I love a chocolate brown suede (which is also a trend).
The second pair is a bit more Y2K with the rhinestones up the sides, but honestly they are subtle.
It doesn’t look bedazzled and the black base helps to tone it down. They would be really cute for spring and summer.

Fringe is still here and spring is a great time to showcase a vintage jacket like this. The colour is lush, and the price is great in comparison to how much I usually see them listed for.
Animal print in general is having a big moment, not just leopard print. This tiger print Moschino blazer is the grey version of the blue one that I have.
It makes a great statement piece rather than just your typical neutral blazer outfit.

I came to the realization that I love handbags, especially vintage styles.
Coming across a vintage bag that I can research the history of is something that I love to do. So this is where I am going to tell you that kiss lock bags are back.
We are slowly starting to see them popping up, but the best part of this style is that the kiss lock is actually a vintage style so you can find an immense amount of them on the secondhand market.
This kiss lock bag is from Miu Miu. It is from the Fall/Winter 2000 and I have this same bag in brown tweed.
And yes, the stitching is intentional. You can see the same stitching in the hats they are wearing from the show. The stitching in mine is like a turquoise blue.
It is a very, very cute bag. I love the black leather, but I have seen it in a red leather, tan leather, and charcoal tweed over the years.
The second bag has that sort of futuristic vibe to me. The straight lines, and flat, square shape is like an ultra-minimalist as well. It would be a great everyday shoulder bag.

Spring jackets, and I am going to start with, the “holy shit this is reversible” one.
It is a vintage suede long jacket that is tan on one side and animal print on the other. It is like the two in one dream.
Seriously though, if this was on Poshmark Canada I would be putting in an offer.
Chore jackets that were swinging in fall are still here probably because the fall window is small and it is a great trend that will carry through multiple seasons.
This is a vintage Ralph Lauren, and it the great olive green colour with a corduroy collar. This would be the kind that I was seeking out if I was in the market for a chore jacket.
Sorry the reversible one is cut off a bit, it was reformatted to fit when I uploaded it.

This is a Ferragamo double dose because Ferragamo is so underrated, I love to recommend it whenever possible because old or new it is fantastic.
They also have a collection of bags that they update and bring out almost yearly. The Wanda has been around forever and it looks just as fabulous vintage as it does in the newer models.
In this double dose I have some large jaguar earrings because, why not? And some snake print, gold Maty Janes that will be a great spring and summer shoe.

I originally had two pairs of Adidas ballet flats but the other pair sold before I could post them.
Our Y2K sports flats are coming in hot for spring and while there are a lot of new styles showing up out there, if we search and are quick enough we can score the original both Adidas and Puma.
The red pair have a pretty little print on them if you look closely. I love the colour and the style, but I also like the ones with a strap like this spring green pair.
The other flat is almost like a crochet or knit and is so good. They caught my eye immediately and I had to share them.

Is this yellow dress vibrant? yes.
But it is incredible. You wouldn’t need anything extra with this summer dress.
Just the dress, some minimalist shoes, and a bag. The big shoulder buckles almost work like jewellery or an accessory anyway.
It’s just a beautiful, colourful dress.
Light pink is a spring and summer trend, but then we also have the feminine polo style knit that has strong retro vibes.
It would look great with jeans, but also you could embrace the vintage feel of this style with high waisted trousers or a full, circle skirt.

And last but not least we have brooches again.
Brooches are everywhere right now. They are being used to adorn bags, jackets, scarves, hats, and even as fancy buttons on shirts and cardigans.
There are so many options, and so many brooches out there.
The first one combines my love of Bakelite, green, and dragons. It is from the 40s and it is stunning.
The second one is from the 50s but has a modern feel to it.
I can’t get enough of brooches and find myself with a million tabs open for so many different styles.
There is a brooch for every taste and mood out there.
That being said, if you are seeking a trend this upcoming season, I want to challenge you to see if you can find it on the secondhand market first.
I bet that you can.

I love these second hand finds posts. The pieces always have so much personality and just feel so much more special and unique than what you can find new in the store.
That’s how I feel as well. Whenever I find something new that I like I try to search for something similar secondhand. I often find something that’s so much better that becomes a special part of my wardrobe.
I deleted my Poshmark app recently (I still check it in case I sell something) because I am too addicted to deals! Any tips on how to shop smarter? I’ve read make a list and a budget, but sometimes low offers are tooo tempting…
The thing that seems to help me the most is that I won’t buy something that I can’t immediately think of 5 different ways to wear it. If it’s easy then I know it will be a good purchase, if I struggle then I take a step back and think about it. It has helped me the most with preventing impulse purchases.
That’s helpful, thank you!
