There is nothing revolutionary about bright coloured footwear for spring, but this year the focus seems to be directed to bright coloured sneakers.

Back in the fall when they had the spring/summer shows the Dries Van Noten show had a green and yellow sneaker that caught my eye.

Since then, I have been seeking a similar vibe since I can’t afford the real deal.

Then last week when I put together the preppy capsule wardrobe, I included a blue retro-style sneaker. The blue went better with the wardrobe, but they also came in other colours.

Like green and yellow. They are the SL 72, and they are from the Adidas archives, meaning they are remade from the 1970s version of this shoe.

Adidas sneakers tend to be something that you need to grab right away otherwise they sell out, especially when they are new models in fun colours.

So I didn’t think about it much, I just grabbed them because I knew I would regret it once spring comes, and I can’t find them in my size.

I just sold two pairs of shoes on Poshmark that more than cover the cost, so I can justify the purchase.

So this is my tip to you: don’t sleep on getting a coloured sneaker if you are in the market for a new spring shoe, because they are going to be hard to find except by resellers for jacked-up prices.

One of the things that I love most about a bold shoe is that you can be wearing the most basic outfit, yet the sneakers make them not basic.

Or you can go the opposite way and make the maximalist. I can envision them with plain jeans and a t-shirt, but also with my animal print coat.

I can’t wait to give them a spin.
