It’s Tom’s birthday this weekend, so I went out to buy supplies to make him his favourite cake. Only to come back and realize that I can’t find the beater attachments to my hand mixer.

So I had to walk back down to the store in the dark to pick up a new mixer.

I just bought a cheap one because I maybe use it 3 times a year. I don’t like baking.

Anyway, this is the cake. I substitute semi-sweet chocolate for the white because I don’t like white chocolate and I don’t like a cheesecake that is too sweet.

The semi-sweet is the perfect amount of sweetness.

I also dread this every year because the part where you have to strain the seeds from the raspberry syrup you have to make is a nightmare.

I hate it so much, but the cake is worth it.

Yesterday I put together a Winter Capsule Wardrobe on a Budget (I love the blue rain boots) and the day before I made a new style guide that focuses on a Zara winter capsule wardrobe which would also fall under the budget category.

Zara can be a hard website to navigate. The photos of the product also make it hard to see what the product looks like half the time when they are in their weird contorted positions.

I took out the guesswork and spent a couple of weeks going into the store and ordering online to try on the pieces and I narrowed it down to some of the pieces that I really liked.

We put up the tree this week, so I can cross that off my list, now we just need to buckle down and get things clean and organized here, so I stop feeling overwhelmed.

Especially with the holidays here.

Try the cake for Thanksgiving. You won’t be disappointed.
