Ugh it’s late and I am on hold with my web host because I am having issues uploading images. Nothing reinforces how tech savvy you aren’t like parts of your website not working. Every single article about my issue was like, “5 easy steps to……” and then it immediately changes into a foreign language. And obviously since this is posted with an image I got the issue fixed, but serves me right to still be trying to get this done after 10 pm 🙁
It was a pretty draining week, especially yesterday. What a complete shit show. The first half and the second half of the hearing were so different in every respect, and I couldn’t look away from either for completely different reasons. The first part I was trying to mentally give her my support through the screen the second half just brings me rage thinking about it. Continue Reading →
Ikea was having a sale on their Billy bookcases (I actually don’t know if they were on sale but he said everyone was buying them) so while Tom was there to pick up one thing he returned with 3 bookshelves. Go figure. You can never come out of Ikea with one thing. Now we can replace ours that are so old they tilt if you bump them. I only managed to build one this afternoon because I don’t have any place to put the old bookshelves until this weekend when we can use Tom’s work truck to bring them to the donation place, but I wanted to try one out. These shelves are going to be awesome because they are much taller than the old ones which means more storage space, and they are white instead of dark wood like the old ones, so they are will brighten the place up a bit. I hope they are still on sale this weekend because we need one more in the girls room. The cat keeps jumping up on their current bookshelf and knocking everything over and there is no way in hell he will be able to jump on this one.
I’ve been sewing for a long time but I still am not really good at it so I always feel dumb wandering around the fabric store because I never really know what I am looking for. This weekend had amazing weather so Merle and I decided we would take a long trek and walk down to the Fabricland to see if there was anything for Roo’s Halloween costume. I found the perfect colour fabric for her dress which was regularly $32.50/m on for $8.50/m. When I was getting it cut though the woman told me that she thought it would be too thick for what I was using it for so I pretended I knew what I was doing and told her it would be fine, so I hope I am right :/ I do want it thicker because it is usually cold here on Halloween and her characters dress is kind of stiff looking and sticks out and I think this thicker fabric will give that effect. Fingers crossed that I don’t blow it. I’m also attempting to make a witch hat. This costume may turn out really good, or really, really bad.
The kids have started to rebound from their illnesses and I am not showing any symptoms yet (knock on wood). So the week should get back in to normal routines again.
Both kids now are down with the plague. It’s actually just a cold but by the way they are acting and how fast they spread it you would think it’s the plague. Ever since Roo was a baby, every single time she gets sick she always throws up on day 1. Regardless if it’s even just a head cold….always. I have to wait until day two to determine whether she has a cold or stomach flu every time. It’s so weird.
Have you been following the #WhyIDidntReport hashtag on Twitter. It is both heartbreaking and infuriating. As I was reading through them over the course of about 20 minutes I went back to the top of the page and saw there were 1,791 new results. That is just a drop in the bucket. We need to do better. Much better. I can’t even believe the fuckery of this past week. I thought we had turned a corner with #metoo but apparently we just circled back around. It is a terrifying thing being a woman.
