This week, I realized that I hate spending money on my summer wardrobe. Although I know I need some specific summer clothes, I gravitate towards pieces that aren’t tied to this one season.
My preference is to save money and funnel it towards clothes in the seasons that I actually enjoy dressing in, so I find myself looking at a lot of sweaters, jackets, and blazers.
I figure if I basically made it through June and one of the hottest weeks I have ever experienced, then I should make it through the rest of summer with what I already have.
So that being said, many of my secondhand choices are non-seasonal appropriate.
I try to throw a few in, but I like what I like, and share what catches my eye, so there is no guarantee of summer-specific items.
I am getting started with two jackets.
I have a long, acid wash denim jacket very similar to this first one. I find it so fun to wear, and hopefully will be able to bust it out sometime this summer as a light jacket option.
This cobalt blue leather jacket is a dream.
The asymmetric zip, the hood, the colour. Such a statement piece. I am very tempted, but think it would be a bit snug for me to zip, and you need to be able to zip this one to get the whole effect.

Something fun? This hybrid top.
It gives the appearance of a lightweight blouse tucked into a tube top without the bulk or struggle of actually doing it.
A pleated, full midi skirt. Every wardrobe needs some iteration of this. I have one that has large pleats versus the accordion pleat, but I think I like the overall appearance of this one better.

Lately, I have been really into neons.
And while neon can be scary to wear since it is so bold, you can often find pieces with subtle neon accents like this vintage Moschino.
The neutral base makes it easy to wear but allows the neon to pop. Also, the frog button closures are the icing on the cake.
Did I share this bed jacket yet? If so, I am surprised it is still available because it is a stunner.
Not only that but the style of this one is different from the traditional ones. This has more of a cap sleeve, vest feeling than an actual bed jacket.
Pair this with a tank or camisole. And for the more brave of us, a bralette or cropped shirt.

A keyword that I always use when searching is asymmetrical. I love an asymmetric anything, like this zip on the leather jacket.
The little puffs at the shoulders, small peplum, and bright blue lining make this one great jacket.
Chartreuse is one of those colours that you either love or hate. I love it, I seek it, I buy it whenever I can.
This means that while some of you might cringe at this blazer, others (if you are like me) will gasp and want to own it.

Another search is vintage DKNY as well as 90s slip dresses. This orange one is both DKNY and from the 90s.
The colour and little lace accent elevate it from the traditional slip dresses of those days.
You can’t see it in the photo but but this cardigan also has a different coloured back. The back is cream, while the front is grey, and the sleeves are green which makes it unique and interesting.
Also, I love a cardigan that can be worn as a tunic or dress.

Do you like bolos?
This 90s necklace, while not a traditional bolo, has bolo-like vibes and would make a great summer accessory.
It is interesting and kind of abstract.
Then we go the opposite way with a classic cluster of pearls. I adore a contradiction of a necklace like this paired with something sporty or edgy.
Like with a beat upon vintage tee, or an Adidas track jacket.

If you have tiny feet these boots might be for you.
Sleek, edgy, cute little bitty heel, and a front zip. They kind of have a witchy vibe as well.
Silver flats are a statement shoes, and these also have an ankle strap which makes them a bit better in my opinion.
I love the dainty look of a ballet flat with an ankle strap. I find them chicer than Mary Janes, and you can never go wrong with silver.

Save the best for last?
Y2K sports bags are a fun addition to any outfit, but they can be a bit hard to find, or are priced way, way too high.
I saw an Adidas one that was love at first sight, and they wanted $500 for it, so I noped away in disappointment.
I saved it in case the price ever drops. I won’t hold my breath. People will often prefer to hold things for years at a certain price then drop it to see if it sells.
If you are more of a woven straw bag for summer person though, this red and natural striped shoulder bag is such a good choice.
Like, come on. This bag is fabulous and would instantly up the ante on any outfit. Pair it with a black and white striped Breton for a fun contrast.
I love stripes paired with stripes.

That is it, friends.
It is still hellishly hot out there, so I find I am sticking close to home and the a/c until it passes. I can’t handle this weather.
Hopefully, I will be back to outfit posts tomorrow
