I am not usually a big audiobook person because my mind drifts, and if the narrator has a bad reading voice, it ruins it. But tonight, I decided to give a Graphic Audio audiobook a shot.

I thought I would make use of my 15 free hours on Spotify Premium to test out whether it would be something that would be worth me spending money on.

And it is. So far, so good.

It markets itself as “a movie in your mind” because it uses a cast with sound effects.

There is still a narrator reading, but the characters’ conversations are done through actors like a play.

It’s a great concept and makes it much more interesting to pay attention to.

I am currently listening to Crescent City part 1, which will use up most of my hours, so I will have to buy part 2 since the last third of the book is amazing.

The first half has a lot of world-building.

It’s a big book that I have read before (multiple times), and I always thought it would make a great TV series, so listening to it via Graphic Audio made sense.

That’s probably what I am going to do this weekend since the air quality is horrible due to the fires, and I am avoiding going out as much as I can.

In case you missed it, I posted a summer capsule that makes summer dressing easy yesterday.

  1. One of the best audiobooks I’ve ever listened to was World War Z by Max Brooks (son of Mel and Anne Bancroft!). It is basically an alt universe documentary with interviews after the zombie war has already taken place. The unabridged version is even better than the original abridged audiobook. The cast is amazing, Alan Alda, Mark Hamill, Henry Rollins, Simon Pegg. So good, the movie was not great to begin with, but was even more disappointing after hearing the audiobook version.

    • Oooh! That sounds good actually. I did see the movie which was kind of meh. Good for watching while doing other tasks so I didn’t have to give it 100% focus. I’ll make sure to add it to my queue. Thanks for the insight because I would totally pass by it without giving it a chance based on the movie.
