If you are wondering what to pack for a trip to Oslo, Norway I’ve got you covered. Someone wrote to me that they are heading to Oslo for 10 days in August and they were trying to figure out what would make a good Norway travel wardrobe.

It is much harder than packing for a regular summer getaway because Norway’s summer weather isn’t consistent. Keep an eye on the ever changing forecast because sometimes it rains a lot.

The yellow snap front rain slickers are popular there, but if you don’t have room for one than you probably should bring an umbrella instead. You may also want to swap out a pair of your shoes for something waterproof depending on the weather forecast. There is a great waterproof bootie here

As per what Scandinavians are known for, Oslo locals have that minimalistic, effortless style with an edge. So when you are planning what to pack for a trip to Norway, neutrals are always a safe and easy choice if you want to blend with the locals. You can always jazz things up with some coloured shoes, and accessories if need be.

Norwegian style would actually make a really excellent travel wardrobe with their neutrals, and clean lines. But we all know that I like something with a little bit more edge so I needed to add some animal print. Animal print is a neutral right? 🙂

You could get lucky and have a beautifully sunny and warm Norwegian summer, where you will be thankful that you packed short sleeve shirts, and summer dresses. Then night comes along and you will be thankful that you packed a leather jacket 😉

There are lots of fjords there so if you are taking day trips around Norway then you may want to include a swimsuit……unless of course you want to partake at one of Norway’s nude beaches 🙂 Since Norway is located so far north the summer daylight goes late in to the evening.

*Rumor has it that there are a lot of mosquitos in Norway so you may want to pack a bug spray like this natural one, to avoid being bitten. Mosquitoes tend to love me so this would be an essential.

The animal print bag that I included in today’s post is from Parker Thatch. I think this is the next bag that I want to save up to buy. I love it. It just screams something that I would carry. It is such a statement bag. What do you think?

  1. I really like the outfits you put together for this travel wardrobe, Sara. You have a great eye when it comes to pulling individual pieces together.

I hope you, Tom, and the girls get to enjoy the summer. Do you have any specific plans?

    Cheers, Ardith

    • Thanks Ardith! I think I missed my calling 😂

No plans yet. This is Tom’s busiest time of the year for work (he works in tv and film) so we won’t be seeing him a lot during daytime hours until the fall.

Is it ridiculously hot there yet? It’s actually been quite perfect weather-wise here.

      • Yes, it’s been ridiculously hot the past couple of days. Just ask our outdoor cats (they are looking quite flat all day long). So glad you’re enjoying the lovely kind. I hope Tom gets to enjoy it with you every so often.

Meanwhile, I found the perfect pair of jeans…on Amazon of all places. These skinny boyfriends fit like a dream, so I bought a second pair. Love them! Also scored three different cargo pants from Thred Up. Love them all. Just awaiting a cute tapestry bag that should go nicely with the other pieces. As a bonus, I found a couple of awesome midi skirts on Etsy and ASOS.

Since I Sherlocked that I have Crohn’s disease—back in February after becoming deathly ill back in December—I’ve lost weight and have needed to update my wardrobe as a result. The silver lining, eh? I think I’m pretty well set at this point, and happily so. I hadn’t really changed much of my capsule wardrobe style since 2012.

Perhaps you haven’t missed your calling. Perhaps it’s just around the corner. 😉

        Cheers, Ardith

        • I wish Amazon was as good for shopping here as in the US. Buy kudos for finding some awesome jeans, because it is always an incredible feeling when you find the perfect pair of jeans.

I’m actually on the hunt for some midi skirts. I haven’t got one that I truly love that is summer weather appropriate, so I’ll have to take a look on both Asos and Etsy to see what they have. A nice vintage one would be awesome.

I’m so sorry that you have Crohn’s. My aunt has it and it’s horrible. A wardrobe update is a good silver lining if there is one in that situation 🙂 My style hasn’t really changed that much since 2012 either.

I won’t hold my breath that my calling is around the corner but thanks for the positivity. I am such a pessimist that it’s obnoxious, and I even annoy myself.

          Sara
