SHOP THE POST

Here is a public service announcement: Make sure when you turn your wifi off of on your phone that you remember to turn it back on or else it will result in a massive phone bill. Just ask my husband :/

I am constantly amazed at how fast kids grow out of clothes. Roo not so much, since she is now at that age in girls where they start to slow down, but Merle seems to grow out of things left right and center. Every time I put her laundry away I find new things to donate. It’s crazy.

It also makes it hard because things she likes are few and far between, She is more partial to the boys section because she likes the colours and prints better. Today for example, she was pissed that the boys section had Mario t-shirts and the girls had rabbits.

The boys section doesn’t have leggings which she lives in (she hates jeans), so when we see a pair of dark leggings in a print that she likes we usually buy them. I mean, the girls section in H&M today look liked someone puked fluorescent colours with baby animals on them. While the boys had dinosaurs, tigers, and video games. It’s so frustrating.

On a positive note….depending on how you look at it. Tom and a friend had tickets to see something in the city downtown today but they never made it there because there was a festival going on with 40,000 people blocking the venue area.

They ended up just walking around and shopping on Queen St. where he found me a couple of really great vintage blazer/band style jackets. I can’t wait until he gets home to see if they fit.

See, positive for me, not positive for him 😉

  1. When my daughter was a baby I got most of her stuff from the boy’s section, but now that she’s a toddler I find I hate a lot of the boy clothes. She loves superheroes, but somewhere along the line someone decided boys wouldn’t wear T-shirts with Wonder Woman or Black Widow. Luckily the people who make this stuff have FINALLY realised little girls like it too, so even if it is a bit pink or ruffly, at least it finally exists.

I actually get most of her stuff at H&M, but I mostly order online. I went into our local store and couldn’t find anything I’d seen online. On the site there’s loads of great gender neutral stuff, but when you look in person it’s all it the boy section. I wish shipping to the UK wasn’t so expensive because I’ve found loads of great stuff on Old Navy’s site.

    • It’s hard isn’t it? I tend to find a lot of cute things for Merle in Zara since they seem to stay away from the “traditional” girls colours and you can find a lot in blacks and greys, or other neutral. For t-shirts we have resorted to buying her a men’s tee in an extra small and then I cut it to fit her. That way I can find all types of images she likes, like Nightmare Before Christmas.

The Canadian Old Navy doesn’t have all the stuff the the US has so we miss out too. I also see a lot of great things for kids on the Target Website which we also don’t have here. They have some great Junk Food Clothing tees for kids, and I have a lot of Junk Food Tees for myself and I love them.

And yes I agree about the shipping. That combined with all the duties and taxes is enough to curb any impulse buys 🙂
