SHOP THE POST

Another Sunday, another weekend gone by in a blink. On my Friday post I was venting how & Other Stories didn’t ship to Canada and there were a couple of items that I wanted and wasn’t sure how to get them.

I also on Instagram whether anyone who lived outside of the United States had ever used a 3rd party shipping company to get items that would not ship to their country. The consensus was that it wasn’t worth the additional costs.

I am really lucky to have some amazing friends though, because not just one, but four said they would help me out. I was able to place my order for this cardigan in both grey, and black. I am so excited for fall now, I hope they are worth the hassle of I put everyone through 😉

So in the end I got the opportunity to be that annoying Canadian person who has to ask people to help buy her things from the US.

I got to check that off of my list, as well as figuring out a few things for the girls homeschool-wise. I really want to order this book for Art history because it is the book they use in colleges but it is so expensive, even to buy one second hand.

I am wondering if it would be just as good if I bought an older edition? I have seen them listed for significantly cheaper, and since we aren’t using this for an actual college course then it won’t really matter since we don’t need the pages to line up with a specific syllabus.

As for Roo’s science, we did Biology last year and I was kind of dancing around what to do this year. I wanted to wait another to do the regular Chemistry then Physics progression, so I thought this year we might do an Anatomy/Physiology/Medicine course.

I’m just not too sure of her interest. Merle is the one who has always had a huge obsession with the workings of the human body (she also loves geology), where Roo has always been a dinosaur and early life sort of person. So maybe also add a half credit Paleontology course to keep her interested?

Or should I do an Astronomy and Paleontology combo instead? It’s not easy to find an earth science course for high school level.  I’m kind of using you guys as my sounding board to bounce ideas off of. If you took anatomy and physiology did you find it beneficial?

I really should have started planning way back in January when everyone else seemed to be doing it. Sigh. I really annoy even myself sometimes.

  1. I just saw a copy of that art book on eBay for $100.00. What price are you hoping to get it for? Cheers, Ardith

P.S. Brilliant choices with those sweaters. They are beautiful.

    • I was hoping a maximum $80 Canadian for a used copy. I think it’s just a really bad time for me to try and buy it since school is starting. They always jack up the price at this time of year 😞 I found the 7th edition for $43, so that may be what I go for.

      • Sounds like a wise choice; just how much value could the 8th edition offer for an additional $137?

    • I love the sweaters. I wanted a wrap one like those since I spotted similar styles at the same store last fall. I hoped other retailers would put out similar versions, but I didn’t have any luck. When I saw this one I figured I should jump on it.

  2. i personally loved anatomy & physiology, as well as biology. i started out as a biology major with the intent of being pre-med and doing anesthesiology like my dad, but my plans changed! true story though, in high school my chemistry teacher broke her arm dog sledding over spring break and never came back, and we somehow got hold of the teacher’s edition of the book, so we had all the answers…needless to say, i came out of chemistry knowing absolutely nothing since we had all the answers at our disposal and a constant rotation of 200-year old substitute teachers. didn’t even think of taking physics. i think it’s a great option that you can add a paleontology course, i think it would help tie in with an anatomy & physiology course and give a better understanding of bone structure and perhaps how certain characteristics helped their species adapt. i found that a&p in addition to having a strong language arts background helped me have a better understanding of a lot of basic medical terminology, plus i think it’s just neat to learn the hows and whys of the human body….if you made it to the end of this, congratulations, and thank you for listening to my drabble!

    • No, thank you for listening to my drabble 😂 I love hearing your experience with this, it’s making me feel better about the choices. We study vocabulary which obviously has major ties with Latin, so that will come in handy with the terminology. That’s pretty shitty about your chemistry experience. That was my favourite science course and I would have been bummed to not get much out if it due to teacher changeover. My teacher was fantastic, and one of the only good things about high school 😂 It’s amazing that you were a biology major. That’s huge. I’m always in awe of people who go in the sciences. My focus was history and geography. Several years later I took marketing which was a huge financial waste. I’m not meant to do that, I don’t know what I was thinking 😂
