SHOP THE POST

Well, I finally managed to make the witch hat I have talked about and it did NOT turn out the way that I envisioned. Back to the drawing board. It needs to have a much wider brim and the cone part needs to be a lot thinner and way taller. I also need to have an insert in the brim so that it stands out and isn’t floppy. The current version looks a lot like Gandalf the Grey’s oversized wizard hat only purple :/

I had to buy more fabric (thankfully they had some of the same left), and we went in to Party City where I bought a big sombrero that I plan to rip apart to use the brim as the insert. There is no point in trying to reinvent the wheel when this way was cheaper and easier right? We also found the regular face mask versions of the girls Halloween costumes, which totally made their day and look super awesome. If you are confused the characters have these “normal” faces which are kind of creepier than their masks. You can see what I mean here if you have any interest (with masks and without).

We got home really late tonight so I am scrambling to get everything done for the morning. The whole weekend was a right-off because I spent all of Saturday putting together the stupid hat. Can you hear the bitterness? I wish we could take the week off to catch up. We actually could if we wanted too but I like the girls being able to take a longer winter break, because Tom is off during that time. We will keep on trucking through and maybe with a little cooperation from everyone we can finally get everything done in a timely manner.

May your Monday be as swift and merciful as an execution. I am not feeling very optimistic this week as you can tell. Have a good one!

  1. It was a fun week in Sara’s wardrobe closet, at least it looks that way from the photos. Love your last quote, BTW. Here’s hoping the week turns out much better than anticipated, that your witchy hat part deux turns out fantastically.

For my part, I’m awaiting three wayward sweaters from ThredUp. And I’ve just ordered a very cute pair of cropped, distressed hem jeans from TJMaxx. The platform Chelsea ankles boots and the platform buckle boots I bought from ASOS have turned out to be good investments. I believe this means my fall and winter wardrobes are more complete…assuming the ThredUp sweaters and arrive, and I like them.

Cheers to you, lovely one. Ta, Ardith

      • I’m laughing because we also have a doppelgänger in Germany. When I was 25 my coworkers came in to work and asked if I was ever a bartender in Germany. I was like, “not that I recall. Why?” And they pulled out a German travel brochure that had a woman in traditional Bavarian clothing serving steins of beer. She looked EXACTLY like me. It was crazy. I kept it for many years but somehow misplaced it. I wish I still had it because it was uncanny.

On a side note you reminded me that I think thredup now is open to Canada so I’m going to check it out. I hope your sweaters work out.

        • Whoah. I can understand you having a style doppelgänger, but it’s hard to believe you have a facial one—because you are, from my experience, such a unique beauty.

I had a similar encounter when I was about 21, it was also a coworker who showed me the cover of a paperback book. My face was staring at me from it…with the exception that she had the better body. I kept that cover too. I have no idea at what point I lost it.

Hope you have fun at ThredUp. Thank you, I have my fingers crossed I will get those sweaters sooner than later.

          Cheers, Ardith

          • It was amazingly awesome and I wish I could meet her. This woman had a better body too 😂 my coworkers joked about it forever.

And my god there is so much great stuff on thredup.
