This week I get to spend in panic trying to get my website up to GDPR compliance. I ignorantly assumed that it didn’t apply to me because I do not live in the EU. After some research this past week I realized that if I get any blog visitors from the EU then I have to make sure everything complies and is properly up to standards.
Easier said than done since all the information online is in technical terms and most of it is for large businesses and not applicable but still way over my head. Sigh.
I’m slowly going through everything with a fine tooth comb and will let you know when I get the privacy policy updated and in place as well as any other things that I need to get done. While over 50% of my monthly readers come from the U.S. I still get around 20% of people coming from EU countries so it’s important that I follow guidelines set in place.
As for now, when you subscribe to my blog post email (meaning you get an email for each new blog post) you have to confirm your email before it goes through an is accepted (an email sent to the address you subscribed with will receive a “confirm your subscription” message).
Along with every email sent there is a unsubscribe option at the bottom of the mailer, so if you wish to unsubscribe from any future emails from me then please use that link or contact me with the email you would like removed and I will remove you from the list.
On to brighter things. On Friday I was complaining that I missed the Mango sale by a few hours when I ordered the purse that I bought myself for Mother’s Day.
Just taking a chance I decided to contact them and ask if I could have part of my purchase refunded or cancelled and I would re-buy it using the discount code. They cancelled the transaction for me and refunded the money so I could get the 30% off. I really appreciate it when businesses are willing to go an extra bit for a customer.
I was pleasantly surprised how many Mother’s Day sales there were this weekend……everywhere except the one place I wanted. Go Figure. Did you find any good deals?
