I want to start this by stating that this New Orleans packing list is for a person who doesn’t wear dresses or skirts and only occasionally wear shorts. I just wanted to mention that before I get messages or comments telling me that it’s too hot to wear jeans in New Orleans 😉

This is also for someone who *might* still be breastfeeding during this time so she needs some tops that will not hinder that just in case. I want to mention that I never breastfed either of my girls (much to the annoyance of some vocal and opinionated people who are no longer in my life).

Do or don’t, it is none of anyone’s business. I mentioned that I didn’t breastfeed because I was a little uncertain of all of my choices working for that need because I never had to worry about having that requirement in my clothes back then.

This request is for two weeks in New Orleans in May (the end), and beginning of June to. I picked some fun, lightweight pieces that all work together nicely to give a variety of outfits for many different outings.

The camisole can be layered or worn solo, the black long sleeve looks great tucked, untucked, half-tucked, and worn off one shoulder.

The green kimono style shirt I included is a linen/cotton blend and will breathe in the heat. It can be worn as a shirt, or over shirts (left open or closed) and reminds me of a lightweight version of my favourite kimono shirt that can be seen here.

I might have to add this one to my wish list too, because this style of top is one of my favourites.

For travel footwear options I included some open weave slides, sandals (with animal print of course), and some canvas old skool Vans in the classic check pattern (which is the best pattern in my opinion).

For travel accessories scarves make a good one. They can be worn in the hair, around the neck, or even tied around the hat or to the purse handle for some added colour. I’ve rounded out the list with a brown leather crossbody, and a woven circle shopper bag that screams summer.

I put together a full range of travel outfit ideas to go with this Lousinanna packing list which are located at the bottom of this post, so I hope you like it and find it useful 🙂

Are you a yay or nay to the Old Skool checkered Vans? They are Spicoli shoes from Fast Times, which is a favourite.

  1. Yay for whoever is going to Tulsa! Hopefully the Gathering Place will be open by then for their trip. Walking around the grounds of the Philbrook is also great.

    • Heh, this was my request (thank you Sara!), I’m visiting family and have been told all about the Gathering Place, hopefully it will be open! I actually lived in the Tulsa area from 1996 to 2012, so have been to the Philbrook a few times, it’s on our to-do list for our trip.

  2. Yay for this super timely post! I leave for New Orleans tomorrow and was just double-checking my packing list. Your post reminded me to throw in a graphic tee for fun and to bring 2 totally different scarves to mix things up. Love your lists and your styling advice, Sara!
