Capsule Wardrobe Part 1 for Spring/Summer – Shirts

I sometimes wonder if my kids are feral. With the constant yelling, fighting, talking, running around, the messes (my god, the messes) and the complete inability to whisper they resemble a wild animal more than a kid 😉 I was in the car the other day waiting for Tom while he was in the Liquor Store buying much needed sustenance I took a picture of what was happening in the back seat right at that moment. It pretty much summarizes out lives.

Just a regular day

Sisterly Love

Now an update of the Capsule Wardrobe that I am building. If I haven’t mentioned it in any earlier post this capsule is going to be a Capsule Wardrobe on a Budget. That means that every piece

is either going to be recycled from my current wardrobe, bought from a retailer that is within my price range (H&M, Forever 21, Sheinside, etc) or bought secondhand from a thrift store or Value Village. I have gone through everything that I own and found I needed a couple of basic pieces so I ordered a shirt and pants, and a necklace from Sheinside for $34 including shipping. I hope they come relatively quickly and I hope that they fit. Sometimes I find their stuff fits small so I always try to read through all the reviews and look at the buyers photos before purchasing because it gives me an idea of what size I should order.

It seems like it is going to be a long process for me since I have to save up for any new pieces/or pieces I need to replace.  If I would have planned in advance I may have been able to save a little at a time to buy what I needed but c’est la vie. This season is going to be a combination spring/summer capsule since we are already halfway in to May and I will never in a million years have enough money to redo this in two months. I have started the pare down process and have my shirts pretty much decided on. The pieces are included in the picture below. A lot of the items are still listed online in the stores I bought them from, but the pieces that I have that are older I have included links to items that are as close as I could find and within the same price range.

I am starting get a little giddy about this. For the first time in my life I find that I am consciously  putting my clothes back neatly in my closet. I did 5 loads of laundry today and folded every single one of them. That is huge for me. I usually just throw them in a laundry basket and slowly put them away a handful at a time. I think this more minimalist mindset it beginning to lift my spirits like a weight being lifted OR it’s just the Siberian Ginseng I recently started taking that is making me feel like this. I also started another donation bag for us to fill so we can drop that off soon and I began working on going through the girls closets today too. Where is this new motivated woman coming from?
