Well it happened, the dreaded fall germs have entered our home. Merle woke up this morning with a throat so sore that she was in tears.

thankfully with a warm drink and some time, it became much less sore after being up for a bit, but I can hear it moving into her sinuses so I am not going to hold my breath that it passes.

What this means is that within 48 hours it will spread to Roo, and then to me where it will stick around for weeks.

It always manages to bypass Tom for some reason, but hang on to me. I usually get it long enough for both of us I guess. I’m upping the vitamin C and keeping my fingers crossed.

I will say that it has put her in a foul mood today. That right there shows me that she is getting sick.

Today I have another autumn packing list. This one is for what to wear in Rome and Spain in November. November tends to be a rainier month so remember that when making your capsule wardrobe selections.

Does that mean it’s going to rain the whole time? No, but it could. When you are spending two weeks in Rome and Spain in November you will probably experience cool, crisp, and sunny but rain is not far fetched.

Remember that while the day may seem nice, it will get a lot cooler at night so bring an appropriate jacket.

In Rome tourism drops around mid-November, and you will find cheaper lodgings as well as fewer crowds, less waiting and line-ups at restaurants, museums, and tourist sites.

If rain is in the forecast then it may be a good idea to pack a portable umbrella, but if not no worries because umbrella vendors come out in droves when it rains.

If you are going to be doing a lot of walking, and the weather station predicts a lot of rain then it would probably be a good idea to pack a waterproof jacket like this.

Apparently, artichoke season begins in November too so if you love them then take note šŸ™‚

Also take note that on the first Sunday of every month, it is free admission to state museums and archaeological sites. November 4, 2018, you can visit the Colosseum, Roman Forum, Galleria Borghese, Ostia Antica and many more sites for free, but you made need to reserve your spot in advance.

  1. Love this list & almost exactly what I need for a trip in December! Your packing lists are amazing & that velvet dress šŸ˜, itā€™s in my shopping cart already. Thank you!

      • The dress came in the mail yesterday. Itā€™s even more amazing in person, Iā€™m dying to wear it already but itā€™s still very warm here :/. It will definitely be perfect for the Christmas holiday in Spain & if Iā€™m lucky Iā€™ll get to wear it before then šŸ˜‰

        • Iā€™m really glad to hear that itā€™s better in person. Thanks for keeping me updated! Iā€™ll send some cooler weather vibes your way so that you can hopefully wear it before Christmas šŸ˜‰

  2. So I just found your blog and I have to say you have THE best capsule wardrobes I’ve found anywhere! I love how they are full of color and texture and interesting details. So many, many bloggers in the capsule wardrobe/minimalist wardrobe genre are telling us to get everything black/white/gray and while that’s fine and a great basic wardrobe to start with, it gets boring very quickly. I’m studying the best way to have a minimalist capsule for each season, but trying to make minimalism mean “fewer-but-great pieces” rather than “simple black and white”. Your blog and pinterest feeds are a great resource for me – I love the pieces you select and the interesting combos you come up with. I’ve even printed a few of them out so I can really hone in on what makes each piece so versatile. (My fave so far was one from March 7 – Barcelona packing list). Thanks and glad I’ve found you!

    • Thank you so much! When I first purged my closet about 7 years ago it was built of the minimalist colours because that’s what I thought I needed to do to have a capsule wardrobe that worked well. Then I realized I was bored with my monochromatic wardrobe which didn’t help me want to stop shopping, so I decided that I needed to get things that were more “me” and visually pleasing. I love colour and pattern and think that you can build fabulous wardrobes with them as long as make sure everything is (mostly) cohesive. I say mostly because I don’t believe that every single wardrobe piece has to go with everything else to make it capsule worthy. Sometimes you need to include a few pieces that you are including for no other reason than because you absolutely love them.
