Now that summer is in full force I have started getting fall packing list requests. My first one is for 10 days in the South of France (Marseille) in October. The thing with this area at this time of the year is that the weather is all over the place.
From what I have read you need to be prepared for anything (except snow) and should plan your travel wardrobe accordingly.
It still gets hot at this time of year, but can also get heavy rains. The days will be warmer, but you will need a light jacket or sweaters at night. You will notice that the local women at this time of year will be starting to wear their dark hosiery with their dresses again.
That is a definite sign of the changing weather.
When you are planning your travel outfits be sure that you can have both hot weather and cooler weather options for each look.
A camisole, skirt, and sandals by day may become a camisole, blazer, skirt, scarf, and boots by night. The same basic look with a few small changes that can be done in a minute or two.
This is why it is a good idea to pre-plan many of your outfits, it makes a quick wardrobe change quick and easy.
I was debating what the best options for travel footwear were. I wasn’t sure if it was smarter to bring sandals or flats, so I would go with the ones that you think you would get the most use out of.
I was going to include these flats instead but decided at the end that I would want some warm weather shoes if there was some summer temperatures.
That is something that I might toss around until the day I was leaving and then make the choice. Remember that nothing is set in stone until you leave.
The early access to the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale starts at midnight PST tonight (3am EST here) for cardholders. Some of the pieces in this list are from Nordstrom and may be included in the sale (I won’t know until the sale is live). It might be worth a peek in case there is anything you like because it may be marked down.
We had a really long day today hitting up some thrift stores and Tom and I got into a HUGE fight while driving. It ended up with me stomping out and walking across the parking lot to have a breather.
It’s not my proudest moment, but it honestly shouldn’t be his either. What is it about the car that makes people fight?
