So we had an ice storm this weekend…..that was fun. On a positive note: if you have always wanted Hunter Boots but find them too pricey they have a new collaboration with Target for a limited time only and if you are lucky (I’m sure they are selling out ridiculously fast) then you can grab a pair for around $40. They also have a variety of clothing and accessories, and everything is available for women, men, and kids. I actually like the sneaker version, they look like my converse rainboot-shoes.

We went to the 80’s toy convention today and it was super awesome. The weather was brutal and we probably shouldn’t have left the house but it was worth it. We found so much stuff. I scored two vintage band tees for $10 too. A kiss one (good thing I didn’t buy the $50 one I wanted that wasn’t even vintage) and The Who in a well-worn baseball/raglan style. I also picked up a series of 4 David Bowie prints and need to find a good spot for them.

Does anyone have issues using Netflix on Safari? It started when I updated my computer to OSX Sierra, from that point on it seems to only work sporadically. One minute your watching something and then when it tries to go to the next episode it comes up as an error. I have to then close and reopen Safari and keep my fingers crossed that it works. It works on Chrome but I prefer Safari, so anyone else has that issue or troubleshooting advice?

I did a small spring/summer try-on Seth at H&M a few days ago that I may post about tomorrow.  They have some nice summer pieces, so I went to check it out when they were quiet and pulled a few pieces that I have wanted to try on. There was dress that I ended up really liking.

How did I not hear that Polyvore just randomly shut down? That sucks so bad because I used to love using that. I have a stylist friend that used it for style boards for her clients and now has to come up with a new way to showcase her ideas for them. I even have a few posts here from about 3 years ago where my collages were made from Polyvore and the images aren’t viewable. I sent in a request to download my works from there so hopefully I can get those old images back up on the blog. I feel really bad for those that used it all the time and depended on it for their blog pictures to all of a sudden have those images gone.

Have you watched 7 Seconds yet? It was really good in a gross reality kind of way. I was avoiding the last two episodes because I knew how it is going to end, but I finished them tonight.

  1. Hi Sara! You have touched on two topics that hit a nerve with me. First, the internet. As promised/warned, the powers that be have begun their campaign to divide the flow/speed of the net in earnest. I’ve noticed it ramping up, and any day anticipate word from our provider that if we want better performance, we’ll have to pay for it. %^#*%$@#*^$@

I’ve experienced streaming issues on Amazon and YouTube, both on my now-dead mac and my husband’s PC. It doesn’t matter if I’m using Safari or Chrome. This may be just the tip of the iceberg of viewing issues we paying customers will be expected to live with.

Second, Polyvore. I closed my account late last year because they were literally forcing members to have a Polyvore board on Pinterest, but not acknowledging/addressing Pinterest copyright issues related to even just liking a Polyvore set. In my case, because I refused to open myself up to said issues, they basically blocked my account/sets from visibility. I managed to save some of my favorite creations as pdf or jpeg files before closing my account. I still miss the member community and the creativity the site provided.

Due to autocratic providers and social media sites, I’m finding an offline existence more attractive with every passing week. I wonder how many other people are feeling the same way.

I also find I’m following little more than a handful of bloggers as well. The greatly diminishing frequency of posts coupled with either repetitive content or too many “how to” posts that border on condescension have me embracing more YouTube accounts and watching documentaries and British/Australian/Canadian/Scandinavian TV shows (unless these streaming issues force me to stop these as pastimes too).

Thank goodness for blogs like yours, Sara. I love your fresh content, cheeky humour, style, and personality. Thank you so much.

    Cheers, Ardith

    • Ugh I hear you. I can totally see how an offline existence is more attractive. It’s just so much stuff in your face 24/7. You can never escape it, and it is exhausting.
Instagram changed it’s policies last month that is causing a lot of bloggers to freak out because it seems like their easy money making game may be almost over. The amount of people freaking out because they may in fact have to go back to their blogs and put in some effort is mind boggling. I’m hoping that it is the tipping point and we can get back to actual blogs with stories, personality, humour, and things that I actually want to read. Fingers crossed.

      Sara
