This week the outfit layout might look a little different, but because my Weekend in California packing list post is so small I thought I would try something slightly different.

I decided to take each pairing and change it up three ways to wear an outfit, from super casual, mid, and a little dressy. Kind of like a day-to-night layout with a middle of the range option.

So obviously by the selections above you can see that there are more than enough clothes for the 3 days in California, weekend trip if you have access to a washing machine (if you need one). 😉

You can change the looks up even more if you include enough accessories in your travel capsule.

Now as per the What to Pack for Southern California post they will be attending a wedding and she wanted to have an amazing dress.

I admitted that I am terrible at trying to dress for formal occasions and tried to offer up some suggestions (as seen below).

I am more of a when in doubt pair a feminine dress or skirt with a blazer and some heels. I like to scroll through Pinterest looking for outfit inspiration because there are always some brilliant looks if you dig enough.

I am also a when in doubt wear black person. It makes any outfit instantly more put together and can make even the most inexpensive piece (for those of us on a budget) look like a million bucks.

It is also easy to wear and very versatile. I like the simplicity and ease of an inexpensive midi length, black slip dress, with a velvet or satin blazer, some simple jewellery, heels, and a red lip.

But I am a sucker for keeping it simple with minimal effort for maximum effect.

Are you a when in doubt wear black person?

  1. Love the layout of 3 outfits per row with accessories changes. So cool to see how it will change from day to night. Im an overpacker so this is awesome. What software do you use to create these brilliant layouts?

    • Thanks! I think overpacking is something we’ve all suffered from at some point 😉 I use photoshop for my layouts.

      • Thank you! It’s really so cool all the things you put together. Btw, I don’t know how you manage to only window shop!
