I decided to take a step back this week from the requests and do a packing list based on my personal tastes. I have a lot on my plate at the moment because it’s the busy time of year for everything it seems, so it was nice to search online for things that appealed to me without having to worry if they would work for someone else taste and style.

This week’s request is for me, and if I could pick a travel wardrobe from scratch (on a budget obviously) these are some of the pieces that I would go for.

Every week I usually build the entire travel capsule wardrobe around one or two key pieces. This week it is all about the blue velvet blazer from Topshop. It’s gorgeous. Last week I had a rose coloured blazer but I think I like this one even more.

I didn’t plan this one for a specific season but with a few moderations, you could get this to work for fall, winter, or spring travel packing lists easily.

I’m not going to lie, I think most of this list has been on my mental “shopping” list for a while. Recently I have been in search of one of those faux fur scarves/collars that I can switch around from coat to coat to get different looks, but I have a specific style in my head that I can’t seem to find in my budget.

There was one as Zara that I procrastinated in buying and then is sold out which I am kicking myself for because I don’t think it is going to restock. Lesson learned. Do not procrastinate people! 😉

I chose a Ghent Belgium vacation as the destination for this week because I was reading about John of Gaunt recently, who was born in Ghent and it inspired me. I have a weird fascination with the Plantagenets and I love to read/research them.

I find myself lost in Plantagenet wiki holes every once in a while and this was one of them.

I put together some looks from these pieces in this post. I hope you like my choices.

*The white sweatshirt is From the Kim Gordon (Sonic Youth) Collection at & Other Stories. I love her so I needed to include it.

Do you have a topic or time period you find that you gravitate to in books, movies, or documentaries?

  1. What a fun selection, Sara. I had to add the snake print flats, the plaid coat, the velvet blazer, and that killer velvet tote to my Polyvore likes. My Christmas wish for you is that one day soon you get to have your dream travel/capsule wardrobe. Cheers, Ardith

    • I kept going back to the velvet tote so I had to add it in. It’s so fantastic. Thank you for the Christmas wish. It’s reciprocated right back.

I hope you and the hubs are well.

  2. I didn’t know Kim Gordon had an & Other Stories collection. I’ve got her book on my Kindle just waiting to be read.

I love reading about the Plantagenets as well. We need another movie with Eleanor of Aquitaine as a lead character, the Katherine Hepburn one was so long ago!

    • Oooh! Let me know how the book is!

I agree they need another Eleanor of Aquitaine she was amazing and had an amazing story.

    • That’s super interesting! I loved #5 and since I traced my roots so far back into the UK I hope I have some Plantagenet in me too 🙂
