Do you know what I hate? When your kid loses a tooth and you can’t find any tooth fairy money in the house. Note to future mothers: always make sure you have some tooth fairy money kicking around or you end up writing an IOU when she pulls the tooth out in bed at 11pm and you can’t run to a bank machine. She actually has 3 teeth that are loose right now and I was concerned she would lose two of them in one night doubling the fee but she only lost the one. The front middle one is soooo loose that she actually  resembles Nanny McPhee but she refuses to pull it.

This week I have request for what to pack for Stockholm, Sweden for 14 days at the end of July/beginning of August. Can I mention how disappointed I was when my DNA results came back and my Scandinavian  percentage was so low? I grew up thinking that my heritage leaned towards Scandinavian. Apparently not.

Sweden doesn’t get exceptionally hot but feel free to toss in a pair of shorts in the mix if you think you will get a lot of wear out of them. I had a friend who went to Stockholm several summers ago and packed like it was a typical summer that she was accustomed to. She said she ended wearing her one pair of jeans (she only brought shorts and dresses) and cardigan pretty much the whole trip. July can be rainy in Stockholm which makes things chillier with damp. It is by no means cold but the average late July temperatures run around the low 20’s during the day. Because of this I included a light trench to accommodate and damp or cooler times.

I was kind of up in the air about the shoe selection. Normally I would pack a sandal for a summer vacation but I chose an espadrille instead. It has that summer feel while having a little more coverage. Plus I think they look great with jeans as well as dresses.

All in all I kept this list fairly neutral with a bit of red. The graphic tee adds a little colour and fun variation to the list as well. For a really well written and put together list of how to pack for a vacation you should read my friend Niki’s post Prepping to Pack for a Vacation on her blog Style Studs and Lace. She really breaks it down well.

The outfit options for this list will be in the next post.

I have been missing Target lately (they all closed in Canada) so one of the purse selections in this list is from Target. I still get bummed every time I walk past the empty store that is still painted with it’s colours 🙁 Any other Canadians still uses about the loss?

  1. I just wanted to jump up and cheer for this travel wardrobe, Sara. It looks like it would be so much fun to wear. Love the sundress, all the shoes, and the pops of color. Well done you!

Meanwhile, I am jumping up and down, because it has been three weeks today since my husband had open-heart surgery. We just got back from a check up with his surgeon and all is going well. I am so proud of Mr. K for being such an outstanding patient, since we began planning for the operation.

Hope all is most excellent with you and your family.

    Cheers, Ardith

    • Oh my god Ardith. How scary. I am so happy to hear he is doing well this soon after such a major surgery. How are you doing?

All is well in the Watson-Gardner house. Thank you for popping over and letting me know what’s going on. I’ll keep him in my thoughts for continued progress and healing.

Make sure you take care of yourself okay?

      Sara

  2. You are very kind, Sara, thank you. I’m glad all is great with you guys. I’m thankful all around. It’s always a pleasure to visit with you. And it’s always fun to see what wardrobes you put together. There so many pieces from this one I’d love to try. Cheers and thank you again, Ardith

  3. Thank you, Sara, that’s perfect! I will be in Stockholm (Sweden), Helsinki (Finland) and Tallinn (Estonia) for a total of two weeks in July/August, so this is exactly what I need. If you happen to have time, how about a wardrobe for that same trip for kids, a boy of nine and a six year old girl. 🙂

    • I have a 6 year old too so that one is relatively easy. My oldest is 12 and a girl but she is partial to jeans, t-shirts, converse, and army jackets so she’s not into “typical” girl wear. I’ll put something together.
