Most of my requests come through the blog and/or email but sometimes they come via Instagram. This week I am doing a request for 2 weeks in Amsterdam, Berlin, and Paris with plus  size clothing options. I’ll admit that I don’t post plus size as much as I would like so I was excited to get the opportunity to do so this week.

The trip is for June and the temps in all three cities should be very comfortable in the mid-late teens (in celsius) maybe day highs of early 20’s. June tends to have slightly more rain that the other summer months which is good to note, but the weather should be lovely.

It’s always a good idea to bring a jacket with you even if it is just a lightweight jean jacket. In this case I included a moto jacket and a blazer for variety. Some versatile shoes like a pair of sneakers/comfortable walking shoe, flat ankle boots, and a flat (or even a sandal if the weather predicts high temperatures). I generally keep the accessories to a minimum like a scarf or two, hat, sunglasses, and for me I always like a watch.

I like to pick to pick pieces that easily mix and match to make a variety of outfits that seem effortless but well put together. I find that choosing a neutral colour palette helps with this and then adding a few pieces with some accent colours. That way you will never have to worry about things not matching. BUt if you are a big colour person just make sure that the colours you choose compliment one another. I also recommend pre-planning your outfits. If you can put together and take a quick picture of several outfits to refer to on your trip you will never have the “oh shit, I have nothing to wear moment”. This also stops you from buying filler pieces on your vacation because we all know how tempting that is. Save the suitcase space for gifts and souvenirs, not extra clothes.
Outfit options will be in the next post.

  1. Thank you so much Sara! There are some great pieces here that’ll help with inspiration! Are you doing a companion what to wear piece? (No pressure, just curious)

  2. love the list! Soooo… I was wondering what you would suggest for this plus size wanderlust to take on a summer trip to Greece/Turkey/Istanbul?

    • Oooo that’s a good question. Off the top of my head I would suggest mid-length to maxi length dresses or skirts. Some tops in natural, airy fabrics, maybe an off the shoulder shirt, a silk blouse, a big scarf that you can use to cover your shoulders (in some tourist situations like viewing churches or religious sites) or use as a swimsuit cover as needed. A straw hat, swimsuit, sandals, a canvas shoe or espadrille, maybe a dressy flat. I would avoid shorts (except maybe in Greece), but maybe a culotte or jumpsuit with cropped bottoms instead.

      I hope that helps!

      Sara
