I’m going to admit, this past week hasn’t been very productive in the grand scheme of things but that’s how life works I guess. I’m working on it. We are still trying to get the Halloween costumes complete (apparently we are big procrastinators). Tom is working on it now but I think we need to buy another marker. It’s running out of paint and the stores are closed since it is Sunday night which is a consequence of procrastination.

On late Thursday night, or early Friday morning actually since it was 4am Tom came home from work and he had hurt his knee. He uses a cube van while working and while he was loading it he slipped on the stairs that go up into the back because they were wet from the rain. His knee hit the metal stairs and got cut up pretty badly as well as was now swollen so he had to take Friday off work. He spends 14-18 hours on his feet a day so they thought it was best to let him have Friday and the weekend to heal. When he came home at 4am I woke up with a start and went out to the living room, as he was telling me the knee story I started seeing spots and got clammy but went in to the kitchen to get him some acetaminophen and Ibuprofen for the pain. As I was reaching them down I also got seriously nauseated and thought I was going to pass out, so I immediately sat on the floor to put my head between my knees. I’m sitting there, Tom is panicking asking me 9 millions questions and yelling out if he should call 911 waking the house. Then the bloody cat climbs up and sits right on my back as I am hunched over. I’m thinking, “even when I could be dying people won’t leave me alone.” Needless to say I recovered and it was probably from jumping out of bed too quick right from a dead sleep. But man, I can’t even suffer in  peace 😉 Here is to a more productive and less eventful week.

How was your weekend?

This week I am working on a Paris in April packing light list for a readers honeymoon.

  1. Crikey, Sara! I hope both you and Tom are feeling much better now. I feel you both on this. Last Monday I had to take my husband to urgent care. Even though we were there when they opened at 6 am, we ended up spending 5 hours there, failing our attempt to get him a procedure. Welcome to Soviet healthcare in 21st century U.S. Fortunately, he is slowly healing anyway…no thanks to the 3 docs who didn’t agree on treatment. Punks.

On a more fun note, I went on a micro-shopping spree at H&M. I was so in envy of your awesomely cool fedora that I bought a similar black wool version of theirs. I love it. I also bought a black pleated midi skirt, and a plaid pencil midi skirt as well. Awaiting the arrival of the latter. I also finally found a moto jacket at JCP, of all places. I really like the style and fit, just wish it was warmer (I took it to UC and still froze). I also got a great plaid, wool long coat from F21 for $30! It looks far more expensive, and that one is warm. I’m just about finished rounding out my fall/winter capsule wardrobe. Feels good.

Again I hope you and Tom are recovered. Cheers, Ardith

    • We are fine now, thanks for asking. I haven’t had any more issues which leads me to believe it was from getting up to quick after being in a dead sleep. Tom’s knee was okay by Monday, a little stiff and scratched up but that seems to be the worst of it. I’m sorry about your husband though. That’s so frustrating.

Yay for mini shopping sprees! I have a wool hat from H&M that is fabulous too. It has a wider brim than a fedora but isn’t quite a floppy sun hat of that makes sense 🙂 It’s funny how you can find something you are looking for and love at random places, like when I found my Frye boots at Winners. I never in a million years would have though that I would find them there but one day bam there they were when I wasn’t even looking.

You know what? I am totally looking for a wool coat as an alternate to my leather jacket. I don’t have anything in between leather and my winter parka and really don’t want to have to pull the parka out yet. I was thinking of looking for something so thank you for the F21 heads up. I’ll check it out this week since there is a large one close by.

I hope your husband is doing better and you guys have a better week.

      • So glad to hear you are both better. Awesome.

Thank you, the man is much better and we had 180 degree different experience today, for a different matter. And Mr. Ken did well during it all.

Have fun looking for that new coat. I’m still amazed at the quality of this F21 version. Hey, that reminds me, I received the H&M plaid skirt today and haven’t checked it out yet. Hold on…Yippee. I just tried it on and it fits perfectly. I read online that when it comes to H&M sizing for zippered items you should go 2 sizes up. Am I glad I heeded the advice. Again, this is nice quality. It’s a wool blend and completely lined.

Hope you are having a fine week, Ms. Sara. Cheers, Ardith
