Okay, so I obviously didn’t wear all the above this past week because I don’t change my outfit several times a day unless you count an outfit change as coming home and immediately removing my bra putting on some ragged leggings to bum around the house in. I have also worn several of my workout shirts out and about lately after exercising and not feeling like changing. Gross right? Sometimes your best effort is only a half effort 😉  But somewhere along the long I fell behind a week in my wardrobe posts and thought I would use this day to catch up. So above is a round up of the last two weeks.

Saturday was my birthday. We didn’t do much because I’m not a huge celebratory person. Once upon a time I was and my birthday meant extreme drunkeness and Guns N’ Roses songs being dedicated to me at the bar (I love GnR). That was back in the days when I could spend the next day sleeping off a hangover (I get bad hangovers) or go to work and spend the day hangover with the rest of my partying coworkers so we could commiserate. Today that would equate torture. Trying to deal with a hangover while maintaining a modicum of parenting. Dry heaving while preparing lunch sounds like a nightmare so I tend to avoid anything that may result in situations remotely resembling that. We spent the afternoon walking through Ikea and then outs or a nice Italian dinner (Italian, Mexican, and all day diner breakfast food are my favourites). We got home too late to buy a cake so Tom is went over to Whole Foods to pick one up Sunday. They have damn good cakes if you haven’t tried them. He also asked me what I wanted for a gift. I almost said nothing but who am I to pass up a present 😉 I think I would like a pair of Adidas Gazelles that they reissued since I don’t really have a sneaker (aside from Converse) in my wardrobe.

I think it would be totally appropriate to get them as a birthday gift because I got them a birthday gift back in around 1995. Not quite 20 years but damn close enough.

It’s so bizarre seeing things come back in style. My mom used to talk about how she wore “so and so” when she was younger and now it’s back, but when you experience it yourself it’s a totally different ballgame.

What is your favourite thing to see back in style?

  1. Happy birthday, Sara. A valid excuse to have some great cake sounds like a reason to celebrate to me.

I hear you about how we all can actually wear clothes. Today I am sporting paint-splotched Everest workout pants, trying to stay cool in 104 degree weather. BTW, I’m so glad I got that tie-tied midi skirt. I’ve worn it a number of times already. It fits like a dream and looks/feels great in spite of the heat. It’s a keeper.

As to your question, ’90s style is my personal retro go-to style. Chunky platforms, midi skirts, short fitted jackets, chokers…they all call to me. Sad note though. I’m finally in a position to buy that Topshop faux leather biker jacket and they no longer have my size 8. Do you happen to have any recommendations for a similar version??

Thanks and have a wonderful week,

    Ardith

    • Thanks Ardith! An excuse for cake (or anything sweet) is always embraced by me. I am currently eating a large bowl of Coco Puffs while I am typing this and my excuse is that they are only available for a limited time 😉

I love, love, love when you debate buying a piece and when you do you realize it is one of the best things you own. It is always a satisfying feeling. I’m feeling that way about my thrifted hat. I danced around whether to buy it and now I live in it.

As for jackets, I have come across a few while looking online and have seen the Zara ones in person and know that they are nice. The faux leather one I got at H&M about 5 years ago is still in great condition so it might be worth a look there too.

      • Sara, thank you so much for taking the time to look into my jacket request. So far the fourth Zara version is really calling to me. Meanwhile, I just took a look at Topshop again and it looks like that one is available again in my size. So now I have to make a choice. It’s going to be a touch one. Oh darn. Oh, I forgot, I need to check out H&M too. Coolness.

Too funny about the coco puffs. I’m a coco krispies fan myself.

        Thank you again,

        Ardith
