Usually my packing lists range from 7-14 days but there are obviously occasions where trips are a lot shorter like work trips and weekend getaways. This list is by request for 3 days in Budapest, Hungary for a Hen Do which is like the North American bachelorette party but all weekend long. Like most of these get togethers, they can range from low-key to wild.

In this instance it is a weekend getaway for the bride and her friends where there will be sight-seeing, shopping, dinners, drinks, and a trip to the public baths. It seems like it could be easy to pack for right? But the thing with Budapest’s weather in June is that is can be all over the place. It can be hot, cool, rainy, or all the above within the same weekend. So how do you pack for that? Good question 😉

She wanted something a little dressier than her usual skinny jeans, converse, and Breton tops, but I wanted to stick to things that were closer to what she usually wears so it felt more her. Sticking with some basic staples in solid colours (black is easy to make it look more put together) a t-shirt, dressy tank, and a solid black 3/4 boxy t-shirt, two bottoms (I chose ankle skimming skinnies in denim and black), a maxi works well if it is hot, but also as an easy cover up for the public baths, a blazer for a quick dressier look when thrown over a plain t-shirt, and two pairs of shoes (one sandal and one walking shoe), a hat and sunglasses for sight-seeing in the sun, and a tote and cross body.

I added an optional long cardigan  and scarf that would be good to wear on the plane or if the weather is a little cooler (the scarf makes a quick cover up in a pinch too). All of these items will easily fit into a small bag when you wear several pieces as your travel outfit. In the instance of needing something fancier it would be easy to fit an extra pair of dressy shoes in the bag if you wanted or even just choose a maxi or shorter dress in black (instead of a printed one like I included), throw on blazer, put your hair up, add some lipstick and you have a quick dressy outfit in five minutes.

I hope that my picks can help give you some ideas of what to bring with you. Have a wonderful time making some unforgettable memories with your friends.

The outfit ideas for this list will be posted tomorrow, I was going to include them in this one but it’s late and I am going to bed 😉

Have you ever went on a long distance trip for a Hen Do/Bachelorette Party?
I was pregnant during mine so we did Thai food at my favourite Thai place and trivia at one of my favourite pubs. I obviously wasn’t drinking but everyone else was and we still managed to come in as one of the top teams at trivia .

  1. Love this travel wardrobe, especially the striped maxi dress. Cheers, Ardith

    • I love that dress too. I love that it is cotton also. I can’t seem to find anything like it in stores either that isn’t in some kind of cheap blend. I would like to find something like it in a linen or cotton here that doesn’t cost an arm and a leg.
