This packing list is by request, and I’ll admit that it was one of the tougher ones. There are so many variables regarding weather, and activities that make deciding what to bring hard. This list is for August, and starts with flying from Edmonton, Alberta to Seattle for a couple of days before embarking on an 8 day cruise. Most cruise ships come equipped with an enclosed pool so don’t forget to pack a bathing suit if your boat has one.

The key in this type of list is layers. Make sure you can wear layers so that you are prepared for any weather. Comfortable walking shoes for nature walk ventures when the boat stops for day trips. Also, as for most cruise ships people tend dress up for dinner, so some dressy clothes and shoes is a good idea. The jacket I included is a canvas lightweight jacket with a hood (I also liked this black, hooded, waterproof one as well), I included a fleece that can be worn under the coat or alone on days a coat isn’t needed but it is still cool. A hat (both knit, and not) are a good idea, and since Alaska is the land of the midnight sun don’t forget sunglass and suntan lotion. I probably could have omitted a shirt and maybe a pair of pants but I wanted to make sure that there were enough clothes if you got wet and/or muddy from any land excursions.

Alaska will be one of those memorable trips full of natural beauty that you won’t experience elsewhere. Outfit ideas for this list will be in the next post. I hope this helped to give you some ideas.

Have you ever been on an Alaskan Cruise?

*I have received a lot of emails and messages lately and I think I have finally caught up and responded to them all. If you sent me a question, request, or message and didn’t get a response from me yet please message me again because it must have somehow been overlooked or lost.
