These twenty outfit options (10 above and 10 below) are the ones that go with the What to Pack for New Orleans packing light list. I had to make one change in the purse/tote because the original sold out within that same day.

Bad luck in choices I guess 😉 This list was a special request for a woman who visits New Orleans regularly. She has a sun sensitivity so it is imperative that she keeps covered up but can still remain cool.

I attempted to achieve this goal by including pieces that were made from linen, cotton, or gauzy breathable fabrics. Several of the pieces were long sleeve and/or meant for layering over, and the large cotton scarf is included to be used as a shawl to remain protected from the sun and can easily be carried in a purse.

The shoes keep your foot covered but allow for breathability, and a straw hat and sunglasses round out the list to maximize coverage. I hope that this list and these outfit ideas are helpful for anyone who is looking to remain cool but covered on vacation.

Do you have any health requirements that make packing for a vacation difficult?

  1. Hi! Just wanted to say thanks for the travel inspiration. I wrote a blog post about my first time (for a vacation) packing light. I used some of your pins to help me.

  2. Quite much, I prefer not to wear ties. Currently, I’m in old stuff: boots and denim from Hermes or Marc Jacobs, and a t shirt hoodie and a leather jacket or jeans jacket.
