I majorly procrastinated today (Tuesday). Yesterday (Monday) was Family Day in Ontario and we ended up not being very productive. Our local mall was open and were going to get groceries, but then we saw that everyone else in the city had the same idea so we went home.

Today we went to get them late in the day, came home and cooked dinner then I had to help Tom take a course online that was supposed to be 2 hours but ended up being over three instead. Now it is 10 pm and I am trying to get this post completed for tomorrow.

In the last post I gave an example of a packing list for an Italy/Switzerland combined  trip for April. The clothing options had to include times that would work for varying temperatures since this time of year is quite unpredictable.

I made sure to include waterproof footwear, several sweaters for layering and light cover-ups, and a few pieces that were reversible so that it looked like you packed more than you did. I also mentioned that two dresses were not necessary so one (or both) could easily be omitted or replaced by a skirt if that is more your taste.

As always I chose pieces that can easily be dressed up or down depending on the outing, two bags (one smaller and dressier), and 3 pairs of shoes. Three pairs of shoes seems like the key number when packing light. Wear one pair, have one dressier pair, and a pair for comfort.

I also like to stick to a neutral palette when choosing items for versatility, then include one colour as an accent that ties it all together (for those that may question the lack of colour variety in my picks).

This packing list was for a 14 day trip so it can easily be made smaller for less days or adapted to warmer temperatures. I made 20 outfit options (10 above and 10 below) which were made from 13 pieces + a coat + shoes + accessories.

The accessories included some knit pieces for the cooler temperatures.  I hope that this list gave you some good ideas and can help you pack from your own closet.

When you wear neutrals what is your favourite accent colour?
