I decided that my last packing list destination for this year is for Paris. I often have requests from people to offer plus sized alternatives for my packing lists, Since my plus size capsule wardrobe is one of my most popular posts to date, I thought that I would make another plus size list next week to go with this post.

So keep an eye open early next week because I will publish a plus size alternative to this packing list offering similar items to this packing list in plus size options as my last packing list of 2015.

Paris was named after the Celtic Parisii tribe when it was founded in the 3rd century. By the 12th century it was the largest city in the western world, and today Paris is still France’s most populated city. It has a long and colourful history but has always survived adversity.

Paris is world-renowned as a fashion mecca and the French were the first to make an industry out of fashion. It wasn’t just dress-making, they were fashion pioneers of western europe. Louis XIV’s court was the beginning of their leadership in fashion, and they have exported their style since then (17th century) which  is before most of the world even knew what being fashionable was.

In this packing list I decided to mix the basic neutral colours of black, white and grey with a few bright accents like yellow, and red/burgundy. Both yellow and red are my favourite colours but I tend to wear them sparingly.

I gravitate towards black, and grey but have a few bright colours in my closet. In what to pack for Paris I included 13 pieces which broke down to 5 tops, 3 sweaters, 3 pants, a skirt, a coat plus shoes and accessories.  As always you pick the heavier pieces to wear on the plane to lighten your suitcase.

The Cuyana cape is one of my favourites because it looks so great and is so versatile. You can wear it like an open front cardigan, a wrap, belted. The options are limitless and you can get many days worth of different looks from this one piece alone. In the next post I will show a variety of outfit options that you can make made with these pieces.

When using this as a guideline for packing from your own wardrobe remember to stick to neutrals and add a few items of colour. That way you don’t have to worry about things not going together. You can get way more versatility out of a wardrobe/travel wardrobe when it is built on neutrals and basics.

Do you have a favourite colour for your wardrobe accents?
